A PLV Training Program was successfully organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Dakshin Dinajpur at Balurghat, at the A.D.R. Centre, District Court Complex, Balurghat, Dakshin Dinajpur – 733101, focusing on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, commonly known as the POSH Act.

The training aimed to enhance awareness among the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) about the legal provisions, redressal mechanisms, and the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders under the POSH Act.

The session was graced by the Learned Additional District Judge, 2nd Court, Balurghat, Dakshin Dinajpur, who addressed the participants and highlighted the significance of creating a safe and dignified work environment for women. The Hon’ble Judge emphasized the role of PLVs in spreading legal awareness and ensuring that incidents of workplace harassment are properly addressed through lawful means.

Key points covered in the training included:

  • Definition and scope of sexual harassment under the Act

  • Composition and role of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs)

  • Duties of employers and organizations

  • Legal remedies available to victims

  • Role of PLVs in awareness generation and victim assistance

The session included interactive discussions, case studies, and Q&A, ensuring active participation from all attendees.

Overall, the training session was informative, insightful, and appreciated by all the participants. It contributed meaningfully towards strengthening the legal awareness and capacity of PLVs in handling cases related to workplace harassment.
